The current ovens run a four-part convection arrangement, connect to the house network, and on the steam models add a water system that has to be filled, drained and descaled like any other. The style names — Contemporary, Transitional — change the hardware and the finish rather than the mechanism. Older kitchens hold the classic ERC ovens, and those report F0 through F8 from a board Dacor designed itself: a different oven, a different table, and a repair that begins with a different question.

The steam models carry a water system the plain ovens do not have: a reservoir, a pump, a path into the cavity and a descaling interval that South Florida water makes non-negotiable. Most problems here are scale rather than mechanism — a pump straining, a steam cycle that takes far longer than it should, a reservoir that reports empty when it is full because its sensing is fouled. Descaled and serviced on schedule these systems last well; ignored, they take the pump with them, and that is a considerably larger repair.

About Dacor wall ovens
The same code, two meanings
This make's older ovens and older ranges use overlapping code strings that mean different things — F1, F2 and F3 in particular. It is the clearest example of why a code table without an appliance and an era attached is worse than no table at all, and it is why the first question here is about the machine rather than the number.
Steam is a platform, not a setting
Whether the cavity makes steam decides what fails and what a visit involves: a reservoir, a pump, a descaling interval, none of which exist on the non-steam ovens. Establishing which one is in the wall takes one question and saves half a diagnosis.

Questions about Dacor wall ovens
The oven says F2 and the internet says three different things.
Because the same string means different things on different machines of this make, which is the trap. On a Classic ERC wall oven F2 belongs to one table; on an ER-series range it belongs to another, and the two disagree on F1, F2 and F3 specifically. A page that gives you one meaning without asking which appliance you have is guessing. We ask what is in the kitchen and how old it is before we say anything about the code.
Steam oven or ordinary oven — how do I tell?
There is a reservoir to fill, usually behind the control panel or in the upper cavity, and a steam or a combination mode on the control. If you have never filled anything, you almost certainly have the non-steam version, which is a whole platform of its own rather than a steam oven with the feature switched off. It matters for the visit: the water system, its pump and its descaling are most of what goes wrong on the steam models and none of what goes wrong on the others.

Two cavities failing together usually points upstream of both — the supply, or the single board that serves them — rather than two independent failures on the same evening. One cavity out and the other perfect is the more common case and stays local: its own element, sensor or relay. It is a genuinely useful thing to establish before we arrive, because the parts are different and a double oven is not a cabinet we want to pull twice.

For diagnosis, sometimes. The current ovens report their state to an app, and a caller who can read us what it says shortens the conversation.
