Where the Rating Plate Hides on a Built-In Dacor
On a Dacor the model number is worth more than on most makes, because it settles which of two code tables applies. On refrigeration it is inside the cabinet on the upper left wall; on a column it may instead be behind the base grille or the kick panel. On a dishwasher it is along the frame the door closes against, visible with the door open. On a wall oven it is along the edge of the door or inside the frame. On a range it is usually behind the kick panel or under the control panel. On a rangetop it is underneath at the front edge, which normally means a torch and a mirror. On a hood it is inside the canopy with the filters down. If the plate genuinely cannot be reached — which happens on panel-ready columns fitted tight — the original invoice or the kitchen paperwork carries it, and the year the kitchen was fitted is enough to place the era approximately.

Dacor model number location: why it matters more here
Dacor changed hands in September 2016 and the electronics changed underneath. Before it, Dacor's own boards and F-codes. After it, the Samsung platform, C-## strings on ovens and ranges and letter pairs ending in C on dishwashers.
The cabinet shape frequently did not change. So two appliances that look identical across a showroom can need different tables, different boards and different part numbers — and the only thing that separates them is the plate.
Where to look, appliance by appliance
Refrigeration: inside the cabinet, upper left wall, usually on the liner beside the top shelf. On a column it may be behind the base grille instead.
Dishwasher: along the frame the door closes against, visible the moment the door is open.
Wall oven: along the edge of the door, or on the frame behind it.
Range: behind the kick panel at the base, or under the control panel.
Rangetop: underneath at the front edge. A torch and a mirror, or a phone camera held under the lip.
Hood: inside the canopy with the filters down — which is another reason to take the filters out occasionally.
Photograph it, do not copy it
These numbers are long, they mix letters and digits, and the characters are small on a plate that has spent ten years in a warm kitchen. A mistyped model number produces a confidently wrong parts order.
A photograph also captures the serial, which is worth having: it narrows the build date on an appliance whose platform changed mid-life.
When the plate is genuinely unreachable
On a panel-ready column scribed tight into joinery, it sometimes is, and nobody should take a kitchen apart to find it. The original invoice, the kitchen designer's specification, or the appliance registration will carry the model.
Failing all of that, the year the kitchen was fitted places the era closely enough to begin, and the code table can be confirmed from what the display actually shows.

Two things before anything else. We confirm which code table applies, so the code on your display means what we say it means. And we confirm which parts are correct — and on a legacy machine, whether they still exist at all, which is a conversation worth having before a visit rather than after one.
What we do with the serial number
The model says what the appliance is. The serial narrows when it was built, and on a make whose platform changed in the middle of several products' lives that is the difference between a confident answer and a careful one.
It matters most on the appliances that straddle the acquisition — a range or a dishwasher bought in 2016 or 2017 could be either generation depending on when it left the factory and how long it sat in a showroom. Photograph both, always. It costs one extra second and it removes the only remaining ambiguity.

Appliances made before that run Dacor's own boards and report F-codes — F0 to F8 on a Classic ERC oven, F1 to F95 on an ER-series range, F-1 to F-9 on an EDW or IDW dishwasher — and none of those strings exist on the current platform. Is the serial number useful too?
Yes, and it is worth photographing both. The model settles what the appliance is; the serial narrows when it was built, which matters on a make where the platform changed in the middle of a product's life. Between them there is no ambiguity left.

That is common on panel-ready columns and we do not ask anybody to dismantle joinery for it. The original invoice, the kitchen designer's specification or the appliance paperwork will carry the model, and if none of those survive, the year the kitchen was fitted places the era well enough to start.
Can you identify it from a photograph of the appliance?
Sometimes, from the control panel and the door furniture, and it is worth sending one. What it will not do is tell us the era on an appliance whose cabinet shape did not change across the acquisition — and on this make that is most of them.
