What we can confirm
Code 5C, from the manufacturer's own documentation
A code is only meaningful together with the machine showing it — the same digits mean different things on different equipment.
The code
5C
Water is still where it should not be at the end of the drain phase. As on the older platform, the problem is frequently beyond the appliance: the disposal connection, the standpipe, or a drain hose that has lost its high loop. Clearing the filter and the sump by hand and running a drain-only cycle separates a blocked path from a failed pump in about ten minutes, and it is worth doing before anybody is called.

What else belongs to the dishwashers
On this make a code belongs to the appliance rather than to a product line. These are the other conditions this machine can display, and the models that can show this one — a display often has more than one thing to say, and the model number decides what any of it costs to put right.
Other codes this appliance can display
Inlet valve — after filling, the controller found no water where it expected some.
Circulation pump — the power board saw no relay closure.
Electrical or heater — no temperature rise within the expected time during wash or rinse.
Drain pump — water was still present in the sump after the drain cycle.
Air flow fan.
Controller or floor guard — the leak-detection system has tripped.
EEPROM failure.
Communication failure — data transfer between the control board and the power board.
Water presence sensor — the WPS that reads water, turbidity and temperature.
Leakage check — a leak has been detected. Shut off the water supply and the breaker.
Water supply check — the valve is closed, the supply is suspended, or the inlet line is blocked.
High-temperature heating check.

About Dishwasher error code 5C
What 5C means on this make
Water is still where it should not be at the end of the drain phase.
Where this appears, and which table it belongs to
On the appliance's own display. Photograph it before you cut the power: a display that has been cleared has taken the evidence with it, and there is no way to ask the machine for it again. Then check the model, because this make changed hands in 2016 and the two generations share no code string. The same characters mean different things on a Classic ERC oven, an ER-series range and a Modernist induction cooktop, and a meaning read off the wrong table is worse than no meaning at all.
Which machines this one applies to
Modernist 24-inch dishwashers. The same number on a different appliance of this make is a different page and often a different repair, which is why this archive is organized by appliance rather than by number. This maker documents codes on 5 of the appliance types this site publishes — coffee machine, cooktop, dishwasher, oven and range — and publishes none at all for freezer, microwave, range hood, refrigerator and wine cooler. Those appliances have symptom pages here and no code pages, which is the honest answer rather than borrowing a table from the machine next door.
What to do about it
- Clear the filter and sump by hand, then run the shortest cycle and watch the drain phase.
- Check the disposal plug and the standpipe — the commonest causes are outside the machine.
- Confirm the drain hose still has a high loop behind the appliance.
- The pump is measured only after the path has been proven clear.
Where this goes next
The job this usually becomes is dishwasher drain and pump repair, and that page carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. If it turns out to be nothing — and on this make a real share of these are modes, reminders and settings rather than problems — the visit ends there and you pay the diagnostic and nothing else, or call (305) 363-6067 and describe what the panel is doing before booking anything.
