# Dacor hood lights not working

### What to do in the next ten minutes

Note how many lamps are affected and whether they dimmed before they went. Try every control including the one on the hood itself if there is also a remote. Check whether the fan still works, because lights and fan usually share a supply. Take a photograph of the hood from underneath with the filters in place.

### Why this is worth a page at all

Because it is the problem people live with. A dark lamp over a range is a small daily annoyance that never quite justifies a call, and it stays dark for a year. It is one of the least expensive visits we do, and it is usually combined with a filter service so the trip earns its keep.

### No code, and that is documented

Several sites publish NO-LIGHT as a Dacor hood error code. The manufacturer’s own hood manual documents the identical symptom in plain English with no code anywhere in the document. We do not repeat invented strings, even harmless-looking ones.

An LED module has failed

They fail individually, which is why one dark lamp beside three working ones is the commonest version of this. It is among the cheapest visits on the list.

The driver has failed

The whole strip dark, or lamps that dimmed for weeks first. Replacing modules on a failing driver wastes the customer's money and we check that first.

The control panel is not passing the command

Glass touch controls fail on the keys nearest the heat. A hood whose lights ignore the button but whose fan responds is usually the panel.

Count the dark lamps

One or all. That single number decides which part is likely.

Remember whether they dimmed first

Gradual dimming is the driver announcing itself weeks in advance.

Check whether the fan still responds

It separates a supply problem from a lighting one.

One lamp dark, or the whole strip

What it usually means

One dark lamp is a module; all dark is the driver or the supply

Dimming before failure points at the driver, not the lamps

A photo from below is usually enough to bring the right part

### Can I change the lamp myself?

On some of these hoods the module is accessible from below and it is a reasonable job. On the liners it is usually easier from below as well. What is worth avoiding is buying modules before knowing whether the driver is the problem.

### The lights flicker at high fan speed.

That points at the supply or the driver rather than the lamps, and it is worth mentioning when you call — it changes what we bring.
