### Under built-in cabinetry the water goes somewhere it should not

A leak under a freestanding refrigerator makes a puddle. A leak under a fitted column reaches the floor beneath the joinery, the base of the cabinet beside it and, in a building, sometimes the ceiling below. There are only four likely sources — a blocked defrost drain, a split or loose supply line, the ice module's fill path, or a door that no longer seals in a humid kitchen — and they are separated by where the water starts. The first action is not diagnosis. It is closing the supply valve.

Find where the water actually starts

Inside the cabinet, under it, or behind it. The location narrows it to the drain, the supply or the door before anything is dismantled.

Clear or repair the path

Defrost drain flushed, fill line and fittings checked under pressure, ice module inspected. A fitting that weeps under pressure looks perfectly dry when the supply is off.

Dry and check what it reached

Base, floor and the adjacent cabinet. On built-in kitchens the consequential damage is usually the larger half of the problem.

### What should I do before you arrive?

Close the water supply valve, put towels down, and note where the water appears — inside the cabinet, under it, or behind. That single observation narrows four sources to one.

### Can you find a leak without pulling the cabinet out?

Usually. The drain, the door and the visible fittings account for most of these, and all three are reachable from the front. Moving the column is quoted separately and only when it is genuinely needed.
