# Dacor over-range microwave and vent service

### Two appliances sharing one shell and one panel

A convection microwave and a ventilation hood in a single 30-inch body, and either half can fail while the other is perfect. Venting that has weakened is normally filters or the duct, exactly as on a full hood; heating problems are microwave problems. What makes this unit particular is the shared control panel, so a fan that does not respond at all and a fan that simply moves less air point at different halves of the machine — which is why we ask which it is before the van is loaded.

What this involves

Test both halves separately

Heat with a measured load; extraction at the filters and at the outlet. Two tests, two answers.

Service the vent path

Filters, blower and the duct above. Recirculating installations have a charcoal filter that is forgotten for years.

Check the convection side

Element and fan. A convection microwave that heats by microwave alone is half an appliance and people live with it for months.

### It vents but the food is cold.

Two appliances, one failure. The microwave half is the question and the venting half is evidence that the supply and the control are fine.

### It is set to recirculate. Does that matter?

A great deal. A ducted installation left on the recirculating setting is a common misconfiguration, and a recirculating hood has a charcoal filter that is forgotten for years.
