# Dacor dishwasher drain and pump repair

### Standing water is usually not the pump

The path runs filter, sump, pump, hose and then whatever the kitchen fitter connected it to — and that last link is where a real share of these calls end. A disposal plug left in after an installation, a hose without a high loop, a blocked standpipe: each leaves water in the base with a perfectly healthy machine. On this make there is a second question first, because the current dishwashers report a letter pair ending in C and the older EDW and IDW machines report an F with a dash, and the two share nothing.

Current machines say a #C code; legacy EDW and IDW say F-1 to F-9

Half of these calls end here, and the other half start here because a blocked filter hides what the pump is doing.

Test the pump under power

Running, drawing current, and actually moving water. A pump that hums and does not move water is a different problem from one that does nothing.

Check the connection beyond the machine

Disposal plug left in after a kitchen fit, a hose without a high loop, a blocked standpipe. The appliance is often blameless.

### What can I check before calling?

Clear the filter and the sump by hand, then run the shortest cycle and watch the drain phase. Ten minutes, and it separates a blocked path from a failed pump.

### My display shows F-4 and nobody recognises it.

Because it belongs to the other era. F-1 through F-9 are the pre-2016 EDW and IDW platform, and those strings do not exist on the current machines at all — which is exactly why a search returns nothing useful.
