# Dacor built-in column access

### The risk on this job is the kitchen, not the appliance

A refrigeration column is captured by the cabinetry around it: held by trim, carrying a cabinet panel and a handle chosen by whoever designed the kitchen. Bringing it far enough forward to be worked on, and returning the joinery exactly as it was, is real work with a real consequence if it goes wrong — a scratch down a run of walnut costs more than most repairs. It is priced as its own step so that nobody meets it as a surprise halfway through a visit, and the protection goes down before anything moves.

What this involves

Panel, handle and trim removed and recorded before anything is moved

The joinery is protected first — the risk here is the cabinetry, not the appliance

Priced as its own step so it is never a surprise mid-visit

Photograph and record the fit

Panel, handle, trim kit, shim positions and screw pattern. A column that goes back a millimeter out of line is visible across a whole run of cabinetry.

Protect the run before moving anything

Floors and adjacent fronts covered. Most of the damage that happens on visits like this happens to the kitchen rather than the machine.

Return it exactly as it was

Leveled, re-shimmed, panel and handle back on the same fixings, door sealing square. The test is that the run looks untouched.

### Will my cabinetry be damaged?

It should not be, and the precautions are why. Floors and adjacent fronts are covered first, the fit is photographed before anything is released, and the column goes back on the same fixings and shims.

### Can the repair be done without moving it?

Often, yes — sensors, dampers, fans, the ice module and door work are reachable from the front. This service is quoted only when the problem genuinely sits behind the cabinet.
