# Your Dacor Says Offline and the Appliance Is Fine

This is the complaint most likely to be sold as an appliance repair when it is nothing of the sort.

## Dacor smartthings not connecting: first: does your appliance connect at all

Nothing Dacor built before September 2016 has network hardware in it. If the kitchen is older than that, there is no link to restore and no amount of pairing will create one.

That sounds obvious and it is worth stating, because a great deal of general advice about this brand assumes the current generation.

## The band that catches most people

Many of these appliances need a 2.4 GHz network, and a great many modern routers present a single combined network name that hides the slower band from the device that needs it.

The symptom is a pairing process that gets almost to the end and fails silently. The fix is on the router rather than on the appliance, and it is the single most common cause we see.

## The router, and the boring answer

Restart it. Not because routers are mysterious, but because a device that has been up for four months with a full DHCP table will refuse a new join without saying so. This resolves a surprising share of these, and it costs nothing.

## The account nobody mentioned

Appliances get registered — by an installer, by a kitchen company, occasionally by a previous owner of the property. An appliance already bound to somebody else's account behaves exactly like a broken one, and unbinding it is an administrative job rather than a technical one.

## What we will not do

Charge repair money for a network problem. Connectivity is priced as its own small service on this site precisely so that nobody pays appliance rates for a router, and where the appliance itself is well we say so and the visit ends there.

## What the link is actually worth

A caller who can read us an alarm history shortens a diagnosis meaningfully — particularly on refrigeration, where the appliance itself displays nothing and the app's named alarms are the only record that exists. That is a genuine benefit, and it is the reason this is worth sorting out rather than shrugging at.

## What to have ready if you do call us about it

Which network name the appliance is meant to be on, whether that network offers a 2.4 GHz band separately, who set the account up originally, and whether anything else in the house recently lost its connection at the same time.

That last one is the most useful and the least volunteered. An appliance that dropped off the same week as a thermostat and a doorbell is not an appliance problem at all, and knowing it before we arrive means the visit is a conversation about the router rather than an hour spent proving something everybody could have known.
